Installation and first time use

Installation
Install OmniPlanner by going to monday.com Apps Marketplace.
This solution consists of:
- Planning board view
- Planning dashboard widget
- Workspace Templates containing basic setup for budget planning for a Client/Project/Activity structure
Once installed in the account, the best way to start working is installing Workspace Templates from Template Center. To do that, navigate to any workspace and choose Add -> Choose from templates -> See More Templates.
Search for OmniPlanner, select template and click Use template.
First time use
Once the templates have been installed, your workspace will contain several boards:
OmniPlanner board - the view Planning is where the data is entered. You can plan a budget - either daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly.
Clients / Projects / Activities boards - these boards define example level 1 to 4 references. You don't have to use all 4 of them (or any of them), and you can use your own nomenclature (e.g. it's perfectly fine to have for example only 1 level called Tasks). Planning board contains columns referencing these boards. You can also reference your existing boards containing a list of projects, tasks, clients or other entities you want to reference your budget values against.
For example, you may use single level off the board called Projects if your budget values should be reported per project.
How to use Planning view
Planning board contains a preconfigured Planning view. It allows you to enter budget values for sample clients, projects and activities. You can also budget against Person.
Entering budget values
Before entering value, you need to add a row containing at least a reference 1st level item (e.g. Client). You can optionally add a Person (if you configured Person column) and other levels (for which you configured columns).
Entering planning values is as simple as putting a number in the cell.
Restricting values when adding new rows
You can restrict the values selectable for a level based on the previous level. For example, assuming you have level 1 called "Clients" and level 2 called "Projects", you can restrict the values for "Projects" based on the value of "Clients".
You can also restric values in the level 1 ("Clients" in the example above) based on the value of the Person column.
To accomplish this, set "Constraint column name prefix" in the View Settings to the name of the column that should be used to restrict the values. Note we're talking about columns in the Level 1-4 columns, not the columns in the Planning board.
Example below shows settings constraints for Level 1 and Level 2 values.
- Set "Constraint column name prefix" to "allowed"
- Create Connect boards column in Clients board called "Allowed projects" and link it to Projects board. Add some values to the column.
- Create People column in Clients board called "Allowed persons and teams". Add some values to the column. Note, that you can use both People and Teams here.
- Make sure "Planning" board references "Clients" board as Level 1
- Note that adding new row restricts values for Clients and Projects (look for chain link icon - hovering over it shows why values are constrained)
Adding notes
You can add a note on the value by clicking "dog ear" in the upper right corner of the cell (it appears when you hover over the cell). This is only possible when Notes column has been set up in View Settings.
To prevent users accessing other users' data you can use native monday.com board permissions. For details see Using Time Reporting view.
For detailed list of all the View Settings, see Configuration.
